Open CASCADE Technology, The Open Source 3D Modeling Libraries
Open CASCADE Technology (OCCT) is a geometry C++ framework. It includes a set of class libraries providing services for 3D surface and solid modeling, CAD data exchange, and visualization. OCCT can be best applied in development of software dealing with 3D modeling (CAD), manufacturing / measuring (CAM) or numerical simulation (CAE).
This technology exists from the mid 90s and is available in Open Source since early 2000s under a permissive Open CASCADE Technology Public License.
This website is dedicated to contributors of OCCT. If you do not intend to contribute to the development of OCCT but only to use it in your project, please go to the product website www.opencascade.org.
The project
Since its publication in open source, OCCT has been developed almost exclusively by internal resources of OPEN CASCADE Company. Formerly, external contributors were asked to send archives of their modifications of the original source code to us. As announced last June, we intend to go further in opening the development process in order for external contributors to join the effort. This website is intended for implementing this project.
Our intention
As already mentioned, OPEN CASCADE recognizes and welcomes the efforts and growing strength of the Open Source Community to improve OCCT. So, our wish is to progressively setup a single collaborative development platform where all OCCT contributors will join us working on the product in a single shared environment.
For now, this site includes some legal notices, tools corresponding to the current way to contribute (see Get Involved) and a forum. All processes and tools which we propose to deploy for making this site a collaborative working environment will be presented on the forum. So, current and potential contributors are welcome to make their comments there, we will try to take them into account.
Naturally, OPEN CASCADE will continue to publish a ready-to-use certified version and to support users on www.opencascade.org.
