Overview Provides Open CASCADE-based applications with the capability of reading and manipulating native data from SolidWorks. This SolidWorks data exchange solution works as an Open CASCADE Plug-in. It allows importing BRep data (geometrical and topological data) alone or in assemblies (defined with components as located parts). Sld.prt as well as Sld.asm files can be converted.

Geometrical and topological native SolidWorks files can be converted to Open CASCADE Technology shapes. Translation calls on the Shape Healing function to produce data which meet the consistency requirements of Open CASCADE Technology. The plug-in processes SLDPRT(part) or SLDASM (assembly) files of SolidWorks. Data can be exchanged by calling these interface library functions.
Assemblies defined in SolidWorks, made of components defined as located parts or other assemblies (for assemblies at several levels), are converted to compound shapes of Open CASCADE Technology, reflecting the initial data sharing of parts.
