Work-in-progress updates on the home page, automatic creation of a project page, project ratings, a project-specific search engine - these are some of the possibilities now available to participants in the open-source development of Open CASCADE.
Following the redesign of the opencascade.org Web site, contributors to open-source collaboration on Open CASCADE have access to a series of new features that will facilitate communication about their work to other developers around the world.
Those wishing to contribute can automatically create a project page and will be able to publicize news about their results on the home page of the .org site. Participants also have their own dedicated forum for exchanging ideas and will be able to mutually evaluate projects via a rating system.
Currently, 45 different contributors have made around 150 improvements in two principal categories: debugging and porting / configuration.
The "Who's Who" search engine provides fast access to the projects by author names or by categories. If, for example, you'd like the complete list of beta testers, check the box next to "beta testers" and hit the "search" button. If you'd like the name of a technical writer who also translates documents, check both "technical writer" and "doc translator".
